Update

Life has been going well lately, no traumatic experiences equate to no complaints.

After such a trying series of events, everyone seems to be doing well, and I don’t know why but it always gives me an uneasy feeling, like something is bound to happen sooner or later. My parents are working things out, and although they are far from fully healed, they are both putting in the effort. Hopefully they keep that up. Ate Dina is in Texas, with Charlie. I talk to her as much as I can and I still have yet to have a Skype date with her! We talk about Amazing Race and vent about certain things every now and then. She’s one of the people who truly understand me, I miss her everyday<3 Kristen is in Menifee and going to school at MSJC, crazy as always but always getting things done. Baby Anne, being independent in San Diego, is going to school and working. We love our new Iphones, Thanks Mommy and Daddy! It really came out of nowhere, but we have a lot of fun with the “facetime” feature.

I’m proud of all my sisters, we have gone through so much together, but despite all the tribulations, we rise above it all and prove to be resilient. It’s funny, because on the surface we seem to be very disfunctional and unconventional, but it is in our own unique chaos where we find normalcy and comfort. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

School right now is going great! So far I have straight A’s, and I plan to keep it that way. Graduate school is so much better than undergraduate school. I am in a class that currently has thirty students, the biggest class size I’ve seen thus far. For class, we had to take a WritePlacer writing test; it was administered electronically and everyone in the class had to write a timed essay based on a prompt that was provided. A test-taker receives a holistic score on a scale from 1 to 8. I scored the highest in my class, with an 8. I honestly hate it when people fish for compliments and say they’re not smart when they are, but I really did not expect to get such a high score. Going in to take the test, I was probably one of the most nervous, but in the end, I was the only one to receive the highest score. IRONIC. Nonetheless, I was very excited to get that score, but I tried to keep it to myself unless someone asked because everyone else seemed to be really bummed with the scores they got on the test. An English teacher I met got a score of 5 on hers, and she felt really disappointed. I am doing well in school because I really do believe in what I’m doing. I’m trying my best to reach my goals, and keeping all other distractions to a minimum=)

I love that I am doing exactly what I want to do. It’s hard to push aside others’ expectations, but ultimately you are living your life, not them. Sure, I won’t have the greatest salary as a high school counselor, but how many people can come home from work everyday saying that they honestly enjoy what they are doing? Working with students, especially in the area I work in, is such a great learning experience. Teenagers are a challenge, but I am inspired and motivated by them everyday. I come home from work feeling like I’ve made a difference somehow, no matter how miniscule that difference may be, I am in a field that is truly fulfilling for me, and I feel is well worth it.

Yosuke and I couldn’t be better. It’s crazy to think that we are only three months away from our three year anniversary! It feels like we have been together forever, yet I still get those butterflies whenever I’m around him. I fall more in love with him everyday. So cheesy I know, but even the cheesiest words I could come up with wouldn’t even begin to describe what this man does for me. He is so loving, generous, selfless, and thoughtful in his own way. I am so lucky to have found him, my knight in shining armor <3

Right now, I’m getting over a cold that I’ve had for about a week. I’m such a health freak, and somehow, I still end up getting sick. I tried my best to not let it get in the way of things I needed to get done, but sometimes you just need a day off. I think it paid off, because I am feeling better=)

This ended up being a lot longer than I imagined, so I hope you guys enjoyed the update on my life. Have a good night everyone!
